UK BusinessVerification
B2Verify checks Companies House records, director networks, and filing history to surface the risks that standard searches miss — in seconds.
5M+ registered UK entities — companies, directors, shareholders & entrepreneurs
THE PROBLEM
Standard business checks
stop at the surface
Unverified directors
While new ID checks exist, millions of historic records remain unverified. Legacy data hides countless unchecked appointments.
Cross-company connections
Cross-company director networks and ownership chains are invisible to basic searches.
Stale filings
Accounts filed 18 months late still show as compliant. Dormant companies appear identical to active ones.
THE ALGORITHM
Intelligent Capture
Our proprietary capture layers surface what standard direct searches miss, creating the UK's first truly deep-link verification engine.
Typo tolerance
Fuzzy name matching catches name variations across appointments and phonetic variants that direct lookups miss.
Partial name matching
Finds "John A. Smith" when you search "John Smith" — middle names and initials no longer obscure the result.
Linked companies through shared officers
Traces shared registered addresses, PSC ownership chains, and cross-directorships in one query.
Multi-criteria search
Combine name, postcode, date of birth and SIC code in a single query to land on the precise officer or company you are checking — without sifting through ambiguous matches.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
- How do I check if a UK company is legitimate?
- Look up the company on Companies House by name or registration number. Confirm the status is Active (not Dormant or Proposal to Strike Off), check the last confirmation statement is up to date, read the most recent accounts, and verify the directors and people with significant control. B2Verify does all of this in one view with a Trust Score.
- What is a Companies House number?
- A Companies House number is the unique, permanent identifier for every UK limited company, LLP or registered entity. England and Wales companies have 8 digits, Scottish companies use the SC prefix, Northern Ireland uses NI, LLPs use OC. The number stays with the entity for its entire life regardless of name changes.
- What is the B2Verify Trust Score?
- The B2Verify Trust Score is a 0 – 100 rating that aggregates nine dimensions of Companies House data — status, age, compliance, governance, stability, SIC coherence, account quality, address quality and adverse deductions — into a single risk band: Low (75 – 100), Medium (49 – 74) or High (0 – 48) risk.
- Is B2Verify free to use?
- Yes. Anyone can search UK companies, view a Trust Score and read the filing history on B2Verify for free. A Pro plan at £9.99/month adds a monitored list with email alerts when anything on a watched company's register changes.
- Does B2Verify replace a credit check?
- No. The Trust Score reads structural signals on Companies House — status, filings, directors, PSCs — and tells you whether the register looks like a real, compliant business. It does not include payment history or CCJs, which require a credit reference agency such as Experian or Creditsafe. Use both together.
- What is a Recurring Pattern Notice?
- A Recurring Pattern Notice is raised when a director associated with the current company has previously been involved with one or more dissolved or liquidated companies operating in the same industry (matching SIC code) within the past 12 months. This is an observation of public register data and does not, on its own, indicate wrongdoing — recurring patterns can occur for legitimate reasons (failed ventures, restructuring, planned closures). Use the Notice as a prompt for further verification.
